Extra Credit Event 1: Natural Science Museum
After attending three events, I visited the Los Angeles Museum of Natural History in downtown. When I was reading the description on the website, I develop a full of interest because I liked the movie series on Jurassic Park very much and I was very interested in dinosaurs. I have been to many natural museums in the East Coast and this is the first one I visit in LA. Although the museum is not free and the ticket is 12 dollars, but I think the price is totally worthy for the visit.

Without any doubt, this is a giant museum, and I did not have the chance to finish all the gallery in an afternoon. The first thing as I walked in the museum is the massive size of the dinosaur skeletons in the center of the hall. I wonder how they move the skeleton here. The bones consist of both real and artificial components, and they are organized together to form the entire bodies of the dinosaur.
This exhibition is the combining work of art and science since it requires scientific skill in mining the fossils and make the skeletons be able to preserve longer in time. In addition, it also needs artistic skills to make the skeletons uniform and combined together with aesthetic perception. Standing next to the giant creatures, I wondered how would it be like if dinosaurs are still exits in our world.
After the dinosaur hall, I also visited the bird exhibition and rainforest, and I am really excited to see an owl, even if I did not catch a picture of the bird. In the rainforest, I even heard the sounds of raindrops and smell the moisture in the air. This is a nearly real experience of nature.
The next section is on culture and history which I learned about development in Los Angeles and how the industrial development shaped modern society. There are many recording of important historical events such as the Gold Rush in California.

Probably the most impressive exhibition is the diorama hall consist of wild animals from different parts of the world.
I will describe my experience as astonishing. All the animals in the gallery are so real. I can even imagine the elephant swinging their ears. The exhibition not only replicates the animals but also replicate their original habitats. I was amazed by the diversity of the species and how different their living environments are. I suddenly understand the harmony depicted in this scene in which people should protect wild animal and return them peace. We not only need to protect animals but also their environment.
Since I did not have the time to finish the entire museum and visit all the exhibitions, I will come again to get the full experience. I will definitely recommend this museum to all people because this is not just a museum but a place you find the beauty of nature.
